I want to make you aware of a wonderful charity organization that could use your support: The Paz De Cristo Outreach Center Mesa AZ, operates a dining room for the needy and also provides food boxes and clothing.
According to Paz De Cristo, approximately 13% of adults and 20% of children in Arizona don't have as much access to food, as they truly need.
Paz De Cristo has been in operation since 1988 and began as a ministry of St. Timothy's Catholic Community. The Dining Room serves a hot and nutritious meal from 5:30pm to 6: 45pm, and typically serves between 180 to 260 persons at dinner.
In addition, food boxes are available to the needy on the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Saturday of each month. Clothing items are typically available each day, and personal hygiene items are available at the Friday meal service. Paz De Cristo sometimes has a limited supply of diapers and formula, but it is best to call ahead for those items.
Paz De Cristo also provides community referrals for housing and medical care.
There are a variety of ways you can help:
- Please consider making either a donation of cash or food items.
- There are also numerous volunteer opportunites. Voluteers for the meal service work between the hours of 4:00pm and 7:30pm. You can be involved in food preparation, the serving of meals, and clean-up.
I, as well as, other members of my family have volunteered our services there and find it to be very gratifying. Each month, nearly 1000 individuals of various faiths and backgrounds come together to help the needy of the East Valley.
